• Daf BV, the Dutch motor group formed from Daf Trucks, Freight Rover and parts of Leyland Trucks, has reported Off 63.1 million (219.12 million) net profit on sales of Dfl 3.8 billion (21.15 billion) for 1987. This is slightly up on its preliminary forecasts, made in January, of around 218 million profit. The difference is caused by exchange rates.
Daf produced 42, 281 commercial vehicles in 1987 — 9,629 trucks and 14,735 vans in the UK. The group says it ranks fifth in the table of European manufacturers.
