Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Maggies first MAGIRUS Deutz introduced a new range of rigid and articulated vehicles for the European market at Hockenheim, Germany this week.

Although providing a range of gross vehicle weights from 16-24 tons, only the articulated models will be available in the UK, and not until the beginning of 1979.

The new vehicles will first be seen at the International Motor and Commercial Motor Show to be held in the autumn this year at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre.

Two air-cooled engines, a V8 rated at 188kW (256bhp) and a V10 rated at 235kW (320bhp) are available in both weight classes. Although there is little outward change to existing power units, Magirus claims a number of significant improvements in the use of seals.

A larger capacity lubricating oil pump has been in troduced to feed oil for engine lubrication as well as for the heating circuit to provide operating comfort comparable to that of other systems with liquid-cool engines and waterto-air heat exchangers.

The all-steel cab now tilts to 60°, providing easier access for maintenance to the power unit below. Entrance to the driving position is via two steps made of non-skid stainless steel with grab handles either side of the door opening.

A hydraulically-cushioned seat is provided for the driver, while the steering wheel position can be adjusted for height and inclination. The cab is insulated against noise and the underside has been protected against corrosion.

Trunnion bearings fitted at the front and rubber shear buffers at the rear provide the cab springing. Its shape, evolved after wind-tunnel tests, is said to have low aerodynamic drag and stay cleaner for longer.

The two air circuit two-line air-brake system conforms to the latest EEC regulations, using drum brakes of the duo duplex wedge-type with automatic adjustment. Parking is controlled by spring brakes operating on the drive axle.

Many of the essential components are designed to meet the particular needs in the individual weight category but many of the high-cost assemblies, in particular the cab, steering, engine, clutch, axles and brakes, are standardised throughout the range. This allows a larger production run for the manufacturer which, if not reflected in initial price, should allow good spare parts availability.

Details of four more rigid models between 9 and 16 ton8 gross will be released later in the year in time for the show,
