Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• BRS Car Auctions has recorded a significant improvement in demand for HGVs at its Stoke-on-Trent centre, according to commercial sales manager, Howard Thornton.

"Our July and August sales have achieved conversion rates up to 95% for a wide range of vehicles, and are averaging a 70% success rate, compared with 60% a year ago.

Thornton says the demand has gained strength, even in the face of a depressed market, and he is confident it will continue. "Even when the new and secondhand vehicle mar kets are tough, companies and organisations still need to offload fleets. Auctions are really the only alternative to turn fleets into cash quickly.

"We have increased commercial vehicles sales to once each week, with specialist sales-within-a-sale for particular utility, council and company vendors gaining popularity for both LCVs and HGVs," says Thornton.

Vendors at recent sales have included British Telecom, Hotpoint, a number of local authorities and fleet and finance companies.
