• Bedfordshire County Council has imposed an HGV ban in the Woburn area, despite opposition from the Road Haulage Association's south-east region, which believes the ban is unworkable.
Coach winner
• Renault's FR! GTX has been voted European Coach of the Year by a panel of 12 journalists.
More permits
• Over 500 Spanish permits have arrived at the International Road Freight Office in Newcastle but the permits will only be issued to applicants "who haven't wasted them in the past".
Traffic drops
• Truck traffic on Britain's roads in the second quarter of 1990 was down 5% on the corresponding period last year. Overall traffic was up 1%.
