Mark Butterworth, of Fellside, Mankinholes, Todmorden, was convicted of drink/ driving in November 1988 and was disqualified from driving for 18 months.

He told North Eastern Deputy Licensing Authority Anthony Richardson that he had operated two lorries on the Continent. Richardson suggested Butterworth reapply for his HGV licence in six months' time. Butterworth said he had to get back to work and was facing jail for non-payment of 24,500 worth of fines for not taxing his lorries.
