• Austin Rover is expected to announce sharply depressed half-year trading figures, following a 6.87% drop in UK sales this year.
The company has warned that losses for the first six months of this year could be as high as £60 million. UK car sales have fallen by 6.81% so far this year, while sales of the Maestro van are down 4.19% on last year.
The company hopes that the launch of the new diesel Maestro van and the Rover 800 saloon will help to reverse the poor sales trend. Nevertheless some industry analysts are predicting a fullyear loss of around £80-90 million at Austin Rover.
