The company has reviewe the scope and role of existin distribution functions, custome service requirements, unit cost: and the performance of existin, distribution resources.
The review has provided a se of recommendations indentify ing scope for improvement ii individual areas within the distri bution function.
The review also recognisel the inter-relationship of these in dividual areas and provides al integrated cost reduction plai for the function as a whole a. well as establishing priorities fo action.
It is possible, says Knigh Wegenstein, to overcome th( problem of reduced drivers hours — and in some cases ever to provide a higher level of ser vice to the customer — withou additional costs.
