A STAFF turnover of 45 per cent in drivers and conductors in the Newcastle area is revealed in the annual report of the Tyne and Wear PTE. That figure was accounted for by resignations and a further 6 per cent of left for other reasons.

Commenting on the report, the PTE's director of operations, Mr James Hurst, said that the position now was just as bad if not worse. There was a 14 per cent staff shortage in Newcastle and 18-20 per cent in Sunderlarid.
