A SYSTEM called Sealdtank, which can turn a solid-carrying freight vehicle into a liquid transporter in 15 minutes, has been developed in the United States by Uniroyal Inc, When not in use the Sealdtank folds up and is stored at the front of the vehicle. When required the tank is rolled out and filled with whatever liquid cargo is to be shipped.

The tank is made from layers of tyre cord fabric vulcanized with synthetic rubber into a puncture resistant container. Both ends of the tank are sealed by flexible metal clips to alloys. expansion and contraction of the contents during handling and shipping.

So far Sealdtank ranges in capacity from 6,819 litres (1,500gal) to 18,184 litres (4,000gal) and have been used in a variety of liquid cargoes including petroleum products, paper and textile chemicals, liquid sugar and fertilizers.

Although at present available only in the United States the company hopes to produce the tank for worldwide markets.
