A NEW line of allaluminium alloy bottomdischarge dump trailers, claimed to be the only one of its type manufactured in the United States, has been developed by Travis Body and Trailer, of Houston, Texas.
The trailers weigh 15 per cent less compared with equivalent steel designs. For example the 22.4 cum (30 cu yd) design weighs 2,143 kg (4,7001b) less than its steel equivalent and therefore is able to carry up to 2.54 tonnes (2.5 tons) more payload. The trailer weighs 4,374 kg (9,6001b) and is 9.3m (31.5 ft) long.
The unload time of three to four seconds compares with the unload time of eight to ten seconds for a steelbodied trailer, because larger bottom opening which has been installed.
