Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE SAVOY, a new tilt design of trailer based on the French-type Savoyarde, has been developed by York Trailer.

The York design consists of a conventional tilt superstructure, which is fully demountable, combined with Freightmaster-style rear doors. At the front of the vehicle there is a full-height steel bulkhead, similar to those used on York ISO containers, which gives the body strength to avoid racking. Marine-ply side boards are standard, but alloy dropsides are an optional extra.

The whole design means that there is easy access for end loading without the need to remove the tarpaulin or dismantle the body. In addition, of course, loading can be through the roof or at any point along the sides. Also featured is a swing-away header above the rear doors so that the trailer may be loaded by gantry crane if required.

This basic design of body is common in France and York has built many such units there using local French bodybuilders. York believes that this type of body will also become common in the UK because of the very obvious loading and security advantages.

The York version comes based on two Lo-deck platform trailer models of 34 and 40 tons gross combination weight respectively. Savoy bodies can also be fitted to other make platforms by York's Truck Equipment Division.
