WHEN the members of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers meet for their 29th AGM on October 17, they will be invited to approve an annual report and balance sheet which shows an allround improvement in the activities and finances of the Institute. Membership for the year ended May 10 1974 increased by 621, • and now stands at 8,468. The Institute's financial reserves are £12,700.

Nevertheless, the finance committee is to propose that membership subscriptions be increased from January 1 1975. The proposed scale is for a full member £12.50, associated member £12, associate £10, graduate £5, student £3.

The Earl Howe continues as the Institute president, and Mr D. Grimster, transport manager of Texaco Ltd, and a former council chairman, has been elected vice-president.

The two latest members to be elected honorary fellows of the Institute are A. Wood, and J. R. Burri II, who received their Fellowship diplomas at the council meeting last night (Thursday).
