for hydraulics
The Lockheed Brake Co. Ltd. has developed a spring brake unit for use with its full-hydraulic system for heavy vehicles, described in the September 23 issue of CM. Diagrams showing the operation of the system are displayed at Earls Court on the Lockheed stand (Stand 352).
A nest of Belleville washers provides the spring power to operate the brakes of the hydraulic system mechanically. Hydraulic pressure to hold-off the brakes acts on a piston and is supplied by separate accumulator. The brake is applied and released by a hand lever in the cab which has "park" and ''neutral" positions.
