Austin Crompton Parkinson Electric Vehicles Ltd., Countesthorpe Road, Wigston, Leics.

A NEW MOBILE medical research laboratory, displayed by permission of the City of Edinburgh Medical Research Department, is a special feature on this stand. Since it has been designed for use by the Speech and Communication Research Unit of the Medical Research Council, the body has been given the maximum degree of sound insulation, is fully suppressed and has highintensity interior lighting. The chassis employed is a Morrison-Electricar FL36/40. In addition to deep accoustic panelling there are double-glazed windows. A tailboard lift, operated from the vehicle batteries, is fitted at the rear. The interior fittings have been planned to accommodate experimenter and patient with provision for the former to operate the necessary apparatus, most of which is electronic.

For overhead maintenance Morrison is showing a Model F36/40 chassis equipped with a Skyworker hydraulic lift platform. The chassis incorporates a standard glass reinforced plastics cab with forward sliding doors. The hydraulic platform has upper and lower booms of tubular alloy which provide 400deg rotation with a vertical reach of 35ft and a horizontal reach of 28ft The platform itself is made of g.v.p. and provides a 30ft working height.
