Gloster Saro Ltd., Hucclecote, Gloucester.

TWO of this company's wide range of tankers are exhibited—an articulated 5,300gal fuel-oil double-taper tanker having a single compartment and a 6,000gal eightcompartment articulated tanker designed to carry petroleum spirit. The first tank is based on Scammell air-suspension running gear and is hauled by a Scanunell Trunker Mk. 2 tractive unit, the g.v.w. rating of the outfit being 32 tons. Based on Dyson running gear, the second tanker is hauled by a Leyland tractive unit and is rated at 30 tons g.v.w.

Details of the 5,300gal tank include frameless aluminium construction, Coolag rigid-urethane-foam insulant and impregnated glass-reinforced plastics panels. Complete drainage of each of the eight compartments is provided in the case of the 6,000gal tanker, the discharge pump being a Drum unit driven by an H and G hydraulic motor. The tank is of tight-alloy construction.
