THE FORMULA range of semi-trailers makes up the display on this stand almost in its entirety, models from Formula's 1, 5 and 7 being the main exhibits. The Tasker Formula range was introduced about one year ago and all the models in it are built from common components.

Two vehicles shown are from the Formula I range, both being for 27-ton gross trailer weight and both offering an approximate payload of 23 tons. One of these is a straight-frame general-cargo trailer while the other is dual purpose container/general-cargo trailer. The haulage trailer is 32ft 6in. long while the container carrier is 301t long. Both vehicles are mounted on Rubery Owen tandem suspension and both are equipped with Tasker axles. The haulage trailer has multi-leaf springs but the container carrier has single taper-leaf springs, Both machines have 15.5 in. x 7in. FCSS brake gear powered by threeline air-pressure systems. A step-frame low loader from the Formula 5 range is shown and this has a 22ft long bed capable of accepting concentrated loads of up to 15 tons. It is built for operation at 19.5 ton gross trailer weight (24-ton g.v.w.) and has a fourmember main frame constructed from lightweight I-beams. A 1.5in. thick halflapped hardwood deck is fitted. The raised foredeck has 12in. high fixed side and headboards, while drop side and tail boards of the same height surround the lower deck.

A machinery carrier for 32-ton gross trailer weight completes the Formula exhibits. This comes from the Formula 7 range, is for payloads of about 25 tons and is equipped with twin-oscillating knock-out axles and 14.00-20, 22-ply tyres.

An Urban automatic coupling model for a 6-ton payload and mounted on a square axle with 750-16 tyres is shown. Twoleading-shoe, wedge operated brakes powered through a two-line air-pressure system are fitted on this model which has load-sensing equipment as a standard component.

An automatic coupling convertor called a fifth-wheel overlay is shown—this device enables automatic coupling tractive units to operate with fifth-wheel trailers. Other products on show are a retractable twistlock for containers and the Tasker D.S. (Double Safety) automatic coupling gear.
