AT noon last Friday, the 10,000th Bedford truck to be exported since the end of the war left the Vauxhall factory at Lutortfor the London Docks on the first stage of its journey to Istanbul.
Turkey is an important new market for British commercial vehicles. The Turkish Government has ordered 500 Bedfords, of which 209 have already been shipped. .• Most of the extorted Bedfords are 5-ton lorries, with a fair sprinkling of hoses and light vans.
