By Chris Tindall NORBERT DENTRESSANGLE (ND) says up to a dozen jobs at its Wrexham site are at risk as it pursues a cost-cutting exercise.

ND general manager James Beattie says: “Both ND and Shop Direct Group [SDG] – our customer at Wrexham – are operating in a tough economic climate, where controlling costs and reacting to changing conditions are key.

“Due to the volatile market, increased operational eficiencies and luctuating volumes, we’ve reviewed our stafing requirements and put forward a number of options for consideration by the union.

“The number of people affected is likely to be 12, out of a total of 250 employees at our Wrexham site.” He adds: “These measures are necessary to ensure that ND can provide the most eficient and costeffective service, as well as longterm security for employees.” Unite regional oficer Peter Hughes says the union was originally told 20 people would be af fected and then they proposed 12 – all administration and warehouse staff. “They came to us, and I told them 20 people was well over the top. They came back and said potentially 12,” he explains.
