• For this year's Motor Show, Volkswagen has improved the level of equipmen; in its vans, and is also unveili two unusual "leisure" vehicle: The Tristar Syncro is a derivative of the Transporter syncro crew-cab pickup, but has a luxurious interior and sporty styling. Available with 2.1-litre 84kW (112hp) fuelinjected petrol engine or the 1.6-litre 52kW (70hp) turbodiesel, the Tristar has a twotonne towing capability in petrol form. The transmission combines the viscous-coupling four-wheel-drive system with manual five-speed gearbox. Manual front and rear differer tial locks are provided, along with a low off-road ratio.
Also aimed at the sporty se the new Caddy Sport boasts z 71kW (95hp) 1.8-litre fuelinjected petrol engine. Based on the Golf-derived Caddy pickup, the Sport has a fivespeed gearbox, lowered suspension, and wider wheels anl tyres. The sports theme continues inside the cab, while th exterior comes complete with spoilers, side-skirts and a twil headlight grill.
