Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• What an interesting idea from Mrs R Keyworth (CM 814 September) suggesting a competition for the most appallingly signposted town.

I am not familiar with Luton but would like to nominate Reading as a place which, once visited, has nothing to encourage you to stay. Getting lost there is even worse.

To anyone who disagrees I offer two challenges: First, coming from the M4 into the town centre, try and find signposting to Farnborough and Aldershot. Second, travelling from the centre towards London, try and pick up the A4 by following signs painted on the road, yet without constantly switching lanes. You will never make it.

J L Buckingham,

Southway Lane, Roborough, Plymouth.
