Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

INCREASE YOUR AXLE WEIGHTS • From January 1989, some operators can increase their maximum permitted weights on three-axle semi-trailers fitted with air or other compressable fluid suspension systems. Where the spacing between the axles is at least 1.3m the maximum axle weight can be increased from 7,500 to 8,000kg.

To operate at the new weight, operators must obtain a new Ministry Plate and Plating certificate showing the new permitted weight. Operators may now apply on form VTG 10 and send the form with £10.50 to the Goods Vehicle Centre, Welcome House, 91/92 The Strand, Swansea SA1 2DH.

Semi-trailers will have to be inspected at a heavy goods vehicle testing station before a new certificate can be issued. If a trailer is due for an annual test before December, the VTG 10 should be sent in with the annual test application as above.
