THE SCOTTISH Bus Group's localised company structure
(CM, September 15), with four
new operating companies has been established to meet the challenges of further deregulation of bus services in Scotland.
The present seven operating companies will be joined by four new ones leaving all with smaller areas.
General managers designate have been appointed to the four new companies — Lowland, Strathtay, Clydeside and Kelvin Scottish — which will by fully effective in June/ July next year.
The existing Northern, Eastern, Highland and Western companies will lose territory, and the Fife company will remain unaltered.
This will allow each to be more responsive to local needs and to react quickly and effectively to passenger demand and to competition.
