bodies on display.
Bodybuilders and trailer manufacturers are among the most innovative when it comes to anticipating the needs of transport operators and in producing a quick response to their needs. The show has many examples of improved access for delivery vehicles, better payload capacity and capability of carrying more metric pallet-loads, particularly at controlled temperatures. Bryan Jarvis also noted that more operators are looking at air suspension for rigids and trailers. Again several examples are on display.
BeSCO Mies 449 BESCO BODIES has an example of its Eurowall insulated body on show, mounted on a leyland Freighter chassis.

BOallOY 432 BOALLOY celebrates its return to private ownership with a display of up-to-date examples of its entire range of bodywork, as well as a glimpse of one of its future developments.
With the introduction earlier this year of its gold standard campaign, the main exhibit is an all-gold 12.2m Tautliner semi-trailer, the latest tracking and weather pelmets. It is also equipped with cargo restraints.
The new features are all included on the latest 12.2m lnsu liner, which has improved thermal efficiency owing to new seals and curtain construction — both the result, says Boalloy, of employing the latest thermo, in-graphic test procedures "in house".
Other exhibits, all "top-spec" standard, are devoted to the 7.5-tonne range, with a Linkliner, Localiner and Tautliner, fitted on Ford. Leyland and Mercedes chassis respectively.
Twenty-two Tautliners have been built for Mercedes as demonstrators, with full-size curtain tensioners, double doors and rubrail side raves. The Linkliner and the Roadrunnermounted Localiner, have the latest lockable door fasteners.
Boalloy's final exhibit offers a look into the future with its own specially developed, demountable, 45,000btu capacity refrigerated unit in prototype form.

Lawrence David. 451
LAWRENCE DAVID'S flushsided sliding door van, which is making its public debut, is aimed at those who are looking for the optimum internal body width. The flush-sider on display, which has been built on a 11.9m (39ft) semi-trailer for Unigate Dairies, provides the necessary space to carry 1,200mm (47.2in) metric pallets side by side. This is achieved by using new door mechanisms which allow the side doors to be pulled out slightly and moved past adjacent doors but still remain captive, top and bottom, without the need for centre or side roof support. Side access is available the length of the body.
All bodies in the range have foam-core insulated side doors, even those intended for dry freight. The standard thickness of the type 30 model is 30mm (1.2in) and is normally supplied for certain temperature controlled operations, while the type 60 used for chilled freight has 60mm (2.4in) thick doors and with extra insulation in the roof, floor and front bulkhead.
