Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ACTION is being taken by t Road Haulage Association i response to police evictions drivers from their sleeper cab This follows reports from it North Western, South Eas -tern, and Metropolitan area of drivers being evicted fror their cabs, and of police con fiscating their keys.

Police claim that driven bunks must be at least 18i away from their lorrie: steering wheels, but the DE partment of Transport say that there is no legal basis fc this minimum.

Neither RHA nor DTp dis putes the 543/69 requirement for drivers to spend their res period away from the vehic1( but RHA is critical of th police action which, it say: "ensures that the drive spends away from his vehicl a period in which he obtains n rest at all".

Member companies ar being asked to instruct the: drivers to establish with th police the authority behin their eviction orders.

They are also being encot raged to write to area office as RHA proposes to forwar these to the DTp.
