No free rides

WEST Midlands PTE has ruled out any suggestions of free Christmas travel on its buses.

West Midlands County Council minority Labour group leader Gordon Morgan wanted the undertaking to follow London Transport's lead (CM last week) of allowing free travel in order to save labour costs.

Transport Committee chairman David Gilroy Bevan said: "I do not want to play Scrooge at Christmas, but lam against the idea."
