IS IT a friendly determination not to be outdone or is it a sign of the times that successful drivers in the LDOY contest are being feted? This year's winner, you will recall, was whisked off to Germany for a week or so by Ford. That was Reg Tooze, of Regent.
Now I am told that runner-up C. O'Reilly—who drives for Petrofina at Leeds—has been given a special five-day holiday with his wife in Belgium. All paid for by the company. It is an international gesture too, since the group's parent company, Petrofina SA, has its headquarters in Brussels.
