Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

HOW unfortunate can you be? This could well be the question that Don Janes, managing director of Whitefriars Coaches is asking himself this week. His company's Cummins-engined Ford R226 coach recently took a party of the Metropolitan Police central traffic squad on a tour of the West German vehicle-testing stations to see how the job was done over there. The vehicle had been behaving itself very well throughout the trip, the speedo was reading 32,000-odd miles.

Arrival at one of the testing stations saw the party being shown around and the Germans looking for a guinea-pig vehicle to show how efficient they were.

Jo, you've guessed it—the Ford was offered by the British policemen as a paragon of British p.s.v.

What did they find? A loose front-axle U-bolt.
