Easy turn electric truck
A 24-VOLT, driveror pedestrian-controlled electric truck capable of carrying 1,000lb at 2.5 mph for 25 miles on good level roads is announced by Powell and Co.
The vehicle has a 60in. x 30in. loadcarrying platform and can turn about in less than its own length. Its three 10in, diameter wheels can be equipped with either solid or pneumatic tyres; the single front wheel steers and carries the power unit. The steering tiller carries the speed control and is hinged about the headstock spindle making conversion from driverto pedestrian-control instantaneous.
A pillar-mounted motor-cycle type driver's seat is fitted and power is derived from four 6-volt heavy-duty batteries of the vehiclestarter type; claimed to provide for a normal 10-hour day's work on a single charge.
Three speeds, both forward and reverse, are provided for the power unit in a series-wound ieavy-duty 24-volt DC traction motor.
An electro-magnetic disc brake operated t w the speed controller on the "dead man" p rinciple ensures that the vehicleis never ix irked unbraked.
Overall dimensions of the truck are 95in. X 30.5in.

The B erk Pilot II is a high-performance productie n spray gun with a light-alloy body and large-diameter air passages and valves for minimum pressure drop. It can be used with pressure tanks and pump-fed supply systems or with its own suction cup. The gun features full fan-width adjustment and fluid-flow control and it will handle materials ranging from light lacquers to heavy-filled primers.
The Berk Pilot 4GM is a gravity feed, light-production spray gun with infinitely variable fan-pattern control and alloy body. A one-pint-capacity nylon cup is fitted as standard and total weight is only 19oz. Separate and integral controls of fluid flow and fan width allow precise adjustment of the spray pattern.
The Berk Pilot 5SP is an internal-mix spray gun for maintenance painting and touch-up work requiring a minimal compressed air supply. It is a full-sized spray gun, of the constant pressure type, and is supplied with roundand flat-fan air caps. The light-weight alloy cup has a 2-pint capacity.
Berk is also to offer for use with the 5SP Gun, a portable diaphragm compressor— the K40. This can be carried by hand and is suitable for operation from an ordinary domestic 240V single-phase electric supply point. The compressor will deliver up to 4.5 c.f.m. of oil-free air at a pressure up to 70 psi.
Marketed by: Berk Ltd, Engineering Division, Paramount House, 75 Uxbridge Road, Ealing, London, W5.

Pre-wired cable trunking
A SAFE, compact, and economical method of distributing electricity for lighting and power appliances in workshops and garages is provided by Plug-Line, now marketed by The Power Centre Co. Ltd. This is pre-wired cable trunking complete with socket outlets for overhead or wall mounting.
The trunking, which measures 2in. by 2in., is manufactured from galvanized sheet steel and supplied in 6ft-long units. Integral plug and socket assemblies positioned at opposite ends of the trunking allow additional lengths to be added.
Power is connected to the trunking by means of an incoming unit comprising a short length of trunk with "knockouts" for cable or conduit entry, and an integral socket assembly into which the trunking unit is plugged.
Each 6ft unit of Plug-Line contains two 19 /044 main power cables and is fitted with two or three flush-type I3amp socket outlets wired in 7/036 single-core cable. The outlets can be controlled by double pole pull-switches mounted inside the trunk. At each socket position an earthing terminal is incorporated in the trunk to comply with the relevant regulations.

Portable extinguisher
A FURTHER portable fire extinguisher has been added to the range of equipment designed and marketed by Graviner (Colnbrook) Ltd., one of the Wilkinson Sword group of companies. Known as the 12-25 Swordsman, the unit holds 12Ib of BCF (bromochlorodifluoromethane) liquefied gas and has a detachable operating head.
A flexible discharge tube terminating in a nozzle extends from the operating head and a safety device locks the operating handle preventing inadvertent operation. The design incorporates a tell-tale disc to show when the extinguisher has been discharged.
Produced by ICI, BCF can extinguish fires involving flammable liquids such as petrol and paraffin as well as fires in electrical apparatus or carbonaceous materials (timber, coal, etc). BCF leaves no residue and neither causes corrosion nor damages clothing and furnishings.
The extinguisher is operated by disengaging the discharge nozzle from the operating head, directing the nozzle at the base of the fire and then squeezing the handle to break a primary seal.
A secondary seal shuts off the flow of extinguishant on release of the handle so allowing maximum use of the contents. After use, the extinguisher can be recharged by attaching a new container of BCF.
