BRITISH RAILWAYS this week moved its 200,000th Freightliner container, after two years of operation. The traffic was Guinness destined for Liverpool.
The Willesden Freightliner terminal —operational since August 29 — is now handling six trains a day. There is a day service to and from Cardiff and both day and night services to and from Liverpool. The Liverpool day train is at the moment clearing the surplus traffic of the night service.
The terminal covers 18 acres and cost £373,000. It is intended that the London-Glasgow services now running into York Way will eventually use Willesden.
