TNT is operating two Mercedes-Benz 1625S sleeper cab tractive units as part of a strict vehicle evaluation exercise for its night trunking fleet.
The vehicles, which are being used for the Tri Star guaranteed three-day parcels delivery service, operate from the company's headquarters at Ramsbottom, in Lancashire, one running to Gordano Services, near Bristol, the other to Leicester. They are being compared against Rolls-Royce-engined Seddon Atkinson 401s and Leyland Roadtrains, and early TNT results show that the Mercedes vehicles are performing best, with the Seddons running them a close second.
