Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QRDERS have been coming in steadily for the Carrimore Mark IV car transporter semi-trailer which made its first appearance at Earls Court this year: it is built to the amended C. and U. Regulations, being 42 ft. 71 in, long overall and 8 ft. 2+ in. wide. One is seen in these photographs coupled to a Leyland Super Comet, a Carrimore retractor turntable being used. The upper deck is hinged just aft of the forward support struts and single-acting. single-extension, p.t.o.-driven hydraulic rams are used for elevation.

The outfit is similar in principle to the earlier Carrimore attic transporter, but a different linkage is used at the rear support for the upper deck, this now being of the swinging-link type used hitherto only on the company's rigid transporter. The upper section is a folding leg (set off-vertical to give the upper deck a " start " when lowering) hinged at the top of a stub pillar which has a small rearward-projecting lug; this lug fits between the sides of a fixed, flange-braced member to which it is secured by a removable pin when the deck is locked in the raised position.

Typical loads for the Mk. IV transporter are four Hillman Imps on the upper deck apd three on the lower; or three Ford Zephyrs on top and two below; or three Austin A40s on each deck.

The semi-trailer has Michelin "X" tyres of 8.25-20 size, these being tandem singles. Brakes are Girl ing 15.25 in. by 4.25 in., vacuum or air operated.
