Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WialILST the big advantages of tipper-cylinder lubrication are generally recognized, they are not so fully enjoyed as they would seem to deserve. A likely reason for this is the simple fact that, although there are several excellent Upper-cylinder lubricants available, the means for using them appear to be inadequate.

No doubt appreciating.this situation, the Wayne V. Myers Co., Ltd., 67-58 and 1, Dolben Street, London, S.E.1, which concern has concentratid upon special lubrication matters such as that• in point, has now introduced a device called the Redex Lubrocharger, expressly devised for feeding lubricant to the upper parts of the cylinder in a convenient and easily regulated manner. It does, in fact, admit a certain quantity of air as well, and thus performs two functions of a desirable nature.

A transparent tube, shaped to incorporate an S-bend, is a feature of the device, which comprises also a small tank, with filler, valve, etc. The whole is intended to be mounted on the instrument board, and the device is for use with Redex, the well-known preparation described by its maker as an extreme-pressure oil activator and carbon repellent.

'The rubber connection from the S-tube, seen in the accompanying illustration, is led to a fitting on the intake manifold. Redex is drawn from

the tube 'as required by the engine; the air valve. is adjusted according to performance; by balancing the feed jet against the air-valve opening the Illow of oil care'be nicely regulated through wide range.

A'typi, cal consumption rate is stated to be one ounce of Redex per 50 miles. A momentary extra supply can be given by closing with the finger the air-intake hole.

Suitable for all types -el vehicle engine, the Warncharger has a particular application to producer-gas conversions, because Redex definitely militates against certain harmful effects of the gas, such as abrasion, corrosion, fouling of valves. etc. The M. of W.T. Directorate of Producer Gas Vehicles, in connection with its requirements for conversion to solid fuel, specifically recommends the employment of upper-cylinder lubrication.
