Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CM's story last week (13 May) about Avon and Somerset Police investing in a spy truck in order to catch drivers breaking the law (reading the paper, watching a DVD, and so on, while driving) has caused a bit of a stir on the TruckNetUK forum.

One poster asks: "If they point a video camera into your cab to get evidence of whatever they think you might be doing, is that an invasion of privacy?"

That question drew a variety of responses: 'Beats me as to why anyone is concerned about this if a driver is driving safely, then they have nowt to worry about.'

"Also, presuming the camera is in the passenger window, then has the limiter on the police truck been disabled so that it can actually overtake every truck or will they just nab the 52/54 mph brigade?"

"What a massive waste of taxpayers' money. For one truck like that surely at least two traffic cars could be put on the road and staffed."

Another forum poster jokes: ''Thought they could have pulled a trailer with it and done the occasional load..."
