SOUTH WALES FIRM Gerry Jones Haulage has reacted to the tougher UK transport market with the expansion of its European operation.
The firm was already doing some cross-Channel work, ex plains MD Gerry Jones, but recruited a European sales manager in September last year with a brief to grow the business.
It has since taken on five new Wilson sliding roofs, coil well trailers, all fitted with Michelin X One MaxiTrailer tyres to boost the units' loadspace.
The majority of the work is to France, Belgium and Holland with steel or tin plate coils and groupage taken out and "better rated traffic" on the import leg.
