Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE BRIGHTON branch of the T&G union's transport arm will meet with its European counterparts later this year in a bid to come up with a common pay structure for the whole of Europe.

So far the project comprises union members from eight different countries, principally from northern Europe, the Baltic states and Scandinavia. It is undecided whether it will opt for a series of country-specific agreements or a Europe-wide minimum wage.

The T&G's Rachael Webb says that the group will meet in July in Lithuania for preparatory discussions, before a full meeting in October in the UK, at Eastbourne.

She says she remains confident of realising the group's aims, despite the immense political and financial obstacles that stand in the way of any sort of cross-border pay structure.

"I don't see why it's a pipedream when thousands of drivers already have it," she says.
