• A fatal crash on the M6 involving a truck operated by Bradford-based Viamaster caused 20-mile tailbacks in the Midlands last week. The accident, which killed a car driver, happened at 07:30hrs near Corley Services.
Warwickshire police say Viamaster's Leyland Oaf artic smashed through the central reservation barrier into the paths of two cars travelling on the southbound carriageway, A Viamaster spokesman says the KV driver, Duncan Sullivan, from Bradford, went through the barrier after he took "instinctive action when he swerved to avoid a load from a skip vehicle which had come loose onto the road ahead of him". Sullivan was taken to hospital but was released later.
The incident caused massive queues throughout the region for more than eight hours. Traffic was diverted off the M6 to the M42, which caused gridlock in neighbouring towns and cities.
