Colin I3oundy, trading as Driving Force in Plymouth, took out the writ this month. He claims ANC owes him more than £20(i000. The move comes less than two months after Rapid Services, which held the Exeter franchise, issued a writ for money owed. Rapid Services is now insolvent.

Two other writs from franchisees one is a counterclaimhave yet to be settled. One of the writs relates to the notorious incident in which the wife of an ex-franchisee poured wine over a group of ANC directors at a franchising awards event at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

ANC managing director Andrew Callaghan confirms there are now four writs against the company but insists it did the right thing in asking the franchisees concerned to leave.

This is the result of the disputes we had about two years ago," he says. "I still believe that we took the right decision but obviously they have recourse to the law."
