The Annual Run Under Observation from Paris to the Riviera Brings Four Saloon Coaches into the Lists.

MFIE Criterium Paris-Nice dates back _L to 1922 and is a competition arming motorcars and fast saloon coaches organized by the Automobile Club de Nice. it is regarded now as a classic event and nib year attracted 55 entrants, of whom, however, 20 failed to appear at the start. The trial occu pied four days, the drivers of the vehicles being called upon to run to a schedule. The participants assembled close to the d'Orly aerodrome at the Vielie Poste on the outskirts of Paris, on Monday of last week, and were despatched in dosses between 6.30 and 7.30 o'clock in the morning. Most of the vehicles fell into the private ear categories, but there was one class for what are termed " autocars," that is, passenger vehicles seating from 14 to 20 persons. There were four participants in this class, M. -Lamberjack (Saurer coach), M. Gaudermen (Saner coach), M. Bernard (Bernard coach) and M. Liaucourt (Renault coach). We were able to secure photographs (reproduced on this page) of three of these vehicles.

The route for the first day's run was via Eontainebleu, Pouilly, Nevers (control), Moulins and Vichy, a total distance of 339 kiloms. On the Tuesday the run was via Roanne, Sainte-Foy and Latgentiere to Lyons (169 kiloms.), where the first control of the day Was established.

The Saurer coach piloted by M. Lamberjack was named " Popal " and seated 12 persons. "Virginia," the. Saurer driven by M. Gaudermen, took part in last year's run and carried 20 people.

The run on Wednesday was from Lyons to Grenoble (105 kiloms.) and on Thursday to Nice. . A 3-kilom. speed test with flying start took place outside Grenoble and further speed tests were in the programme for the week-end.
