June refers to new EU regs on vehicle dimensions. Some say tractor unit cabs should be left alone, but perhaps there is a deeper reason behind the new EU rules.
Hybrids only run at 26-tonne GVVV in Europe, yet the US has full-weight hybrids running and on trial. Is this because the US regulates trailer dimensions and not cab dimensions, making it easier for engineers to find space for electric drives and batteries? With the cost and availability of fuel under pressure, and the extra cost and weight of Euro-6, it seems that hybrids are the way to go. Having an engine that stops every time the truck does is a winner both pocketwise and environmentally.
