• Lincoln City Transport is aiming at the upper end of the coach market with its new operation, Stonebow Coaches.
The company has recently pulled out of National Express service work, and competition for private hire is extremely keen between independent operators in the area.
The Stonebow fleet will comprise five single-deck coaches, one minibus and one double-deck Volvo.
A standard programme of excursions and off-season tours will be offered together with an eight-day tour to the Shetland Isles in September.
The remainder of Lincoln's coaches and double-deck vehicles will transfer to local service work as part of a rationalisation programme.
Dormobile cuts
• About 12 out of 180 jobs were axed last week at Dormobile, the Folkestonebased van and minibus bodybuilder which went into receivership earlier this month.
Crystals grows
Doncaster-based Crystals Conversions is looking to add at least one more coachbuilder to its 20-strong workforce — its order book has five months work on it.
