Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The management/employee buyout team of Fife Scottish has won an undertaking from the Scottish Bus Group that it will not sell the company pending a judicial review.

Last week the Scottish Office announced that Stagecoach was the preferred bidder for the firm, which has about 850 staff, 300 vehicles and seven depots.

But managing director Derek Stuart, who is leading the team, is determined to stop Stagecoach taking its second SBG firm — it already owns Aberdeenbased Bluebird Northern.

"This further confirms our belief that our bid was not properly considered by the Secretary of State," says Stuart.

"We firmly believe that our bid is in the best interests of our customers and employees and fully meets the Government's objectives in privatising the company," says Stuart.

"We are tremendously impressed by the support we have been getting from the local community in Fife in support of our bid. This has given us the strength to carry on the fight."

0 Stagecoach Holdings is spending 52.4m on 70 ERF Trailblazer bus chassis for its Malawi operations.
