• HGV drivers at British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) will work a 35-hour week from March following a new union agreement.
They are part of a 7,500strong manual workforce at BNFL which will benefit from the agreement negotiated by the TGWU, GMB and AEU. It is be lieved to be the shortest manual working week in British industry.
Local negotiations at BNFL sites will determine how the shorter working week will be implemented. The company describes the agreement as "selffinancing" as it includes measures to boost productivity.
