• Truck drivers working in London earn 15% above the national average, and their colleagues in the South-East earn 7.7% above the average, according to the Freight Transport Association's latest costs guide.
Running a 38-tonner artic combination cost almost 5% more in January than 12 months earlier, and light CV running costs rose by nearly 7%.
