THE WINNER of the London Licensed Taxi Driver of the Year Competition at Crystal Palace on September 13 — a week before the final of the Commercial Motor Lorry Driver of the Year Competition at Cranfield on September 20 — will receive £600 from Dunlop. He could, of course, earn as much by driving an Arab from Mayfair to Heathrow but it wouldn't be nearly such fun.
A London team is to challenge Bristolians to lift a standard FX4 taxi 2ft off the ground. This is to be done while performing a U-turn without signalling. The winners will be awarded 28 wet days off with pay.
