Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I AM SURE that as publishers of Europe's leading journal on the cv industry, you consider it your duty to keep your readers as well informed as possible. For this reason, no doubt, you decided to devote a "Special" issue to the small, but all-important tipper sector of the market.

What a pity that in your apparent desire to be as impartial and objective as possible, by rightly including a separate section on imported vehicles, you seem to nullify your effort by completely missing out any reference to the Nino range of commercial vehicles, which includes the very excellent range of ZM 6x4 and 8x4 tipper chassis.

As these vehicles have been freely available in this country since mid-1980, and indeed have been road tested on more than one occasion by other lesser journals, then one cannot believe that this omission was a mere oversight, but a deliberate exclusion; the reasons for which I, and your readers, would be interested to know.

It has been widely rumoured that you have been put under a certain amount of "pressure" from some of the home-based manufacturers not to encourage promotion of these Japanese originated vehicles. However, as we all respect the "freedom of the press", I'm sure there must be a better explanation available.

I hope that in future we can look forward to the sort of impartial and "up to the minute" reporting that we have come to expect from Commercial Motor, and that the subjective and understandably partisan elements can be kept under control, and not allowed to detract from what is otherwise, a firstclass magazine.

G. A. MORGAN Sales Director Tunnel Truck Sales (Purfleet) Ltd West Thurrock, Essex We have endeavoured to obtain test vehicles from the Hino agents, but to no avail. At Tipcon we visited the Hino stand three times and there was nobody available to speak to. We will be happy to test any model that Hino makes available.

To suggest that we are influenced by the home market is arrant nonsense. If Hino offers us a vehicle now we will put it through its paces and publish our uninfluenced results.

You can of course, continue to enjoy our impartiality. Now produce the vehicle. — Editor.
