Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TRANSPORT gains eleven awards in the Queen's Birthday Honours List, published on Saturday. Two of these honours go to military personnel.

West Yorkshire PTE directorgeneral Tom Lord, who is created a CBE, has been in public service for 40 years. As d-g of WYPTE, Mr Lord is also a member of the Management Team of the West Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council and an adviser to the Public Passenger Transport Sub-committee of the Association on Metropolitan Authorities.

A CBE also goes to Mr L. E. Thompson, chairman, Westinghouse Brake and Signal Company.

A DBE goes to Miss Margaret Henderson Kidd QC, (Mrs Macdonald) formerly Member, Transport Tribunal in Edinburgh.

Mr George McKay, OBE, is director of technical services, National Bus Company. Mr McKay has been in the bus industry for most of his working life, starting with the Scottish Bus Group.

Mr L. A. Carey, chairman of the Transport Users' Consultative Committee for East Anglia, is another OBE.

Mr D. G. Bowerman, man ager, Taunton / Bridgwater branch, Western British Road Services, who becomes an MBE, has been in State-owned transport since 1947, when his family's haulage business was absorbed by nationalisation.

MBEs go to Miss N. V. Fishburn, lately personal secretary, Tyne and Wear PTE; Mr C. Risbridger, deputy project engineer, chief inspector, Park Royal Vehicles Ltd; and Mr J. Wyatt, senior executive assistant, London Transport Executive.

The Order of the Bath is bestowed upon Maj-Gen C. H. J. Carpenter, Royal Corps of Transport, who was a subaltern at Dunkirk—(CB Military).

The MBE (Military) goes to Maj H. L. Ackers, RCT.
