F. K. Pointon has been elected chairman of the Public Transport Association in succession to T. W. H. Galley. Mr. Pointon is a regional chairman of the NBC and chairman of Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co. Ltd.. the Potteries Motor Traction Co. Ltd„ and Sheffield United Tours Ltd. Mr. Pointon is also a member of the Road Operators' Safety Council and of the National Committee on Road Transport Education. D. S. Deacon and F. J. Speight have been elected PTA vice chairmen, Mr. Deacon is chairman and director of a number of NBC companies. He is a member of the council of the loT and a member of the RTITB. Mr. Speight is joint managing director of George Ewer and Co. Ltd., and chairman of Grey-Green Coaches Ltd. He was a founder-member and first chairman of the
PVOA.
H. Whitaker IRansome and Marles Bearing Co. Ltd.) has been elected chairman of the FTA traffic committee, succeeding G. Pollard who remains on the committee.
Garry Turvey, FTA secretary. leaves for Germany on Mcinday as a member of an MoT delegation to discuss bilateral agreements.
I. H. G. Wilson has been appointed managing director of Dennis Bros. Ltd. replacing B. G. Stacey who resigned last month. Mr. Wilson was previously chief group management executive of the Tecalemit Group.
CHI-, S. J. Rushton has been appointed ,chairman and Cllr. B. A. V. Kirk vice-chairman of Nottingham City transport committee. John T. Panks has been appointed managing director of Automotive Products and will be based at the Group's Leamington Spa headquarters. Prior to joining the Automotive Products Group in August 1968 as group sales and marketing director. Mr. Panks was sales director of Rootes Motors Ltd.
T. H. N. Palmer has been appointed sales manager of the automotive division of Pinchin Johnson Paints, part of the International Paint Co. Ltd. Mr. Palmer will be based at the PJP works at Ladywood. Birmingham.
James S. Mack has been appointed traffic manager with Western SMT Co. Ltd. at Kilmarnock. Mr. Mack joined -the company in 1966 from Scottish Omnibuses Ltd. as assistant to the traffic manager.
Ted Rowe, one of Atkinson's sales executives, has joined T. N. A. Ward's sales and service organization, Transport Vehicles (Warrington) Ltd., distributor for Atkinson and Volvo.
0. R. Johns has been appointed personnel and training manager of Bulwark United Transport Ltd. Mr. Johns was previously regional manager with the RTITB, which he joined from Bulwark United at the end of 1967.
F. A. J. Woodworth, 48. has been appointed general manager of Neath and Cardiff Luxury Coaches Ltd.. and of Thomas Brothers (Port Talbot) Ltd.. retaining the post of general manager of South Wales Transport Co. Ltd. which he has held since 1968. D. N. Flower continues to hold the posts of manager of Thomas Brothers and of Neath and Cardiff. G. Jones has been appointed assistant chief engineer of the West Yorkshire Road Car Co. Ltd., in succession to H. B. Sessford who is now chief engineer of Trent Motor Services Ltd. M. J. McClurg, 24. controller at the Amoco West Bromwich depot, becomes controller—as from July 1st—of the new Amoco Kingsbury Terminal with overall responsibility for Amoco's Midland storage facility.
P. J. Barker, a postgraduate strident and tutor in the Department of Economics at Leicester University, has been appointed Rees Jeffreys Lecturer in Transport Economics and Statistics.
N. S. Downes has been appointed distribution and transport controller for Beecham Products (UK). the division of Beecham Group Ltd. responsible for all drinks, foods, toiletry, cosmetic and proprietary medicine branded products. Mr. Downes was previously divisional distribution and transport manager.
A. E. Mason has been promoted to general sales manager of Boscombe Engineering Ltd.
Brian Clark, 32. has been appointed parts sales manager of Allisons of Doncaster Ltd., the Rootes Group main dealer and Commer and Dodge retail dealer. Mr. Clark joins Allisons from Rootes Motors (parts division) where he specialized in dealer parts services.
