Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• After being held for a number of years at the AEC works at Southall, the London round Sunday to the MoT testing station at Yeading, near Uxbridge-and a very suitable venue it proved to be.

However, it was not a day for previous champions; only one class winner from last year was able to repeat his success. He was R. Wood, from the Ministry of Public Buildings and Works who, with his Bedford, took the Class El prize from J. Saunders (Nestles -Commer) by a margin of 11 points. E. Oakley missed another trip to Bramcote by only 5 points when he came second to GPO driver R. Oldham in Class A.

Indeed, scoring was close throughout. The winners of Classes A, B and G all scored 62 points each. Classes C, D and El were topped with penalties of 44, 47 and 46 respectively while in the remaining classes margins of only one or two points separated first and second men.

The overall winner, L. Barnet of Rockware Glass, with an improvement percentage of 77, was well ahead of the rest. The team award went to the same firm that won last year-Gerrards Fruiterers. A whole batch of National Carriers drivers' arrived to find that their office had entered them all in the wrong classes. To avoid disappointment, organizer Ted Teer arranged a separate run-off for the railway lads and he even rustled up a tankard for the winner who, had he been properly entered, would have been placed second in his class, Most of the marshals were in favour of the new venue, though the AEC canteen facilities were missed. Some competitors complained that spectators were allowed too close to the tests, causing distraction. However, despite the unfamiliarity of the terrain, an entry numbering 171 and the need to improvise a special contest for the railway drivers, "stumps were drawn" by 4.50 p.m. and the last of the results were posted half an hour later, with speeches ending well before 6 p.m.
