Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The National Freight Corporation has this week detailed the people and the organization by which it intends to co-ordinate the activities of its subsidiary operating companies in the fields of parcels and mail. It has done this by giving substance to the company, British Express Carriers Ltd., registered on January 5 1968, and transferred as a nonoperating company from THC to NFC under the Transport Act.

In giving the new company substance, the NFC has placed on its board senior members of the operating companies, some of whom therefore relinquish their former posts. The board of British Express Carriers, which is to co-ordinate NFC parcels and mails activities, is as follows: Mr. A. R. Dunbar, chairman; Mr. P. W. Swindells, deputy chairman; Mr. P. A. Land. managing director; Mr. P. H. R. Turner; Mr. W. R. Alexander; Mr. J. C. Chester.

Mr. Dunbar was formerly chairman National Carriers Ltd.; Mr. Swindells was managing director of BRS Parcels; Mr. Land was managing director of National Carriers; Mr. Turner recently joined NFC from Coast Lines; Mr. Alexander was chairman of the Tayforth Group. Mr. Chester remains chairman of Tartan Arrow Services Ltd. where the position is unchanged.

BRS Parcels Ltd. board appointments are: Mr. S. C. G. White, managing director (formerly London area manager BRS Parcels); Mr. E. Moffatt (financial director BRS Parcels) Mr. J. L. Willoughby (retired managing director BRS Parcels); Mr. A. J. Wright (retired former divisional manager South East Division BRS Ltd.); Mr. J. P. Young (manager Scottish BRS Ltd.). Mr. H. Kinsey becomes managing director of National Carriers Ltd. He was the company's commercial director. The board will initially consist of Mr. Kinsey and Mr. R. H. Teager (NCL financial director).

Mr. W. R. Alexander becomes chairman and Mr. A. Monighan 'general manager Tayforth Parcels division) a director of the following parcels-carrying companies in the Tayforth Group: Scottish Parcels Carriers Ltd., Glasgow; Hanson Haulage Ltd., Huddersfield; Watsons (Carriers) Ltd., Spennymoor, Co. Durham; Bridges Transport Ltd., Preston; H. S. Morgan Transport (Southampton) Ltd., Southampton.

This arrangement will bring the Tayforth parcels-carrying companies more closely together. Mr. Monighan. who is stationed at Preston, will take over the supervisory duties now exercised from Falkirk over these companies.

Links will be provided between the above groups and the headquarters of British Express Carriers Ltd.

The change in the BEC board became effective on Monday; other changes are effective on July 1.
