THE output of commercial vehicles for April was 18,289 units, the lowest figure this year and a 15 per cent. fall on April of last year. Due mainly to import restrictions in Australia. export figures were below recent levels. Production during April averaged 4.572 units a week compared with 4.788 a week in March, The total output for the month was 18,289 of which 10,644 were for export and 7.645 for the home market. Goods vehicles, road haulage tractors and special types totalled 17,602, of which 8,491 were under 15-cwt., 8,156 from 15-cwt. to 6 tons and 955 over 6 tons. There were 609 passenger vehicles built during the month, comprised of 486 single-deck and 115 double-deck motorbuses and eight trolleybuscs. The total for battery-electric vehicles was 78. Passenger-vehicle production was comprised of 2,935 single-deck and 603 double-deck motorbuses and 43 trolleybuses. Battery-electric vehicles totalled 253 and pedestrian-controlled delivery vans 311. In the first quarter, the production of works trucks was 1,909. Excluding dumpers and industrial trucks, exports for April totalled 11,520 units, their value, including dumpers and industrial trucks being £6,712,203. During the first four tnonths of the year, 52,295 vehicles, excluding dumpers and industrial trucks, were exported, the total value including dumpers and industrial trucks being 00,401,013. During the same period 1.619 used e otninercial vehicles (£765,288), 42.621 agricultural tractors (£15,774,248), and parts and accessories to the value of £33,374,162 were shipped overseas.
